Help
Hey guys, my rant about my brother didnt turn out so well, so I decided to do one on what our young generation is becoming. So if anyone has any suggestions, I could use a little help :]
Aw, really? I loved that one! Well its kind of late now, but if you haven't figured anything out yet, I would definitely mention Twilight. So many little kids, pre-teens and such, are obsessed with the books and the idea of marrying blood-sucking stalker vampires who watch you while you sleep (sorry if you liked the series, I read them but I didn't find anything particularly grabbing about them). I went to see Twilight when it first came out, which was a huge mistake. The theater was crammed with kids, mostly younger than myself. I just didn't get the obsession. When the lights when out, everyone screamed. When the title came on, more screaming. Edward comes on, my ears start to ring. Jacob makes his appearance and, you guessed it, ear-splitting screams of adoration. Rather interesting behavior for 12 year-olds.
You could also mention the obsession over Zac Efron or the Jonas Brothers (I'm focusing on girl attractions mostly because their behavior shocks me the most).
There's also the fact that a lot of really young kids are wearing the latest in fashion, hang out all day on myspace, facebook, and AIM, and won't leave the house without their new flip phone.
I hope that these ideas help, if you haven't written it already (It is rather late, but I gathered that most of us stay up that long anyway). Good luck! :)
Good way to use the blog! I don't get texting... it's like no one does anything real anymore and everyone has to be in contact all the time, like they're afraid to be alone. I think if I were 16 now, I would be the worse! Because I was afraid of missing something and being alone but I had to cope and slow down and pick and choose experiences (which party, etc perm ADD!) and that is what becoming an adult is about. I worry that all this technology prevents kids from maturing and encourages short attention spans.
yeah I finished my rant a while ago last night, but yeah I actually wrote more about how our culture is so sexualize and all that. thanks for the suggestions though :]
