Senses

The music,
Playing softly through my speakers.
The TV,
Faint through the closed door.
My cat,
Scratching to be let in.
The squeak,
Of hinges as I oblige.
More scratching,
As she asks to be let out.
Again.
The brushing,
Of my hand against the paper,
The scraping,
Of the pen as I write these words.
My voice,
As I read them.
Out loud.

  1. Can you find a metaphor that pulls all these elements together or even a title that does that? What happens if you remove the prepositions? Does the language get stronger?
